Intro
The CornuCopia approach to Co-Counselling is in development since 1992. It got a major rethink in the late nineties when I was critically reviewing the results of my teaching Co-Counselling so far. I decided to restructure my approach along the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Focusing and other results of scientific research into human feelings, emotions and social behaviour.
The manual grew out of the slides and hand-outs I used during my workshops since 1992. Gradually I added more and more text so that people could read around what they saw, heard and learnt during the workshop.
Contents
The CornuCopia approach and so its manual, consists of four integrated workshops:
- the Co-Counselling Fundamentals
enabling people to have Co-Counselling sessions the CornuCopia way and to join the CCI Co-Counselling networks.
- the "Conflict and difficult conversations" workshop
empowering people to deal with conflicts and difficult conversations in a much more co-operative and constructive way, so that they do not need Co-Counselling sessions again and again to work on the distress of mishandled conflicts.
- the "Create your life" workshop
enabling people to use Co-Counselling to create proactively their own lives and to provide them with an insight how positive and negative creation processes work. This takes Co-Counselling into co-coaching.
- the "support and support-groups" workshop
empowering people to cater for their own needs in a mutually supportive way, to keep consensually a grip on the group dynamics and last but not least, to work on 'social emotions' like shame and guilt more effectively. As a positive side effect, these support groups turned out in the longer run also to become very supportive towards maintaining the local Co-Counselling communities. This takes Co-Counselling into co-supporting.
The manual consists of four parts:
- Personal notes and homework sheets
- Workshop theory
of the four workshops mentioned above
- Techniques
Core techniques and Group techniques
- Booklets
Currently existing of "the Rescue Triangle" and "Fundamentals Review" booklet.
